Octopus Legacy, as a part of Octopus Ventures, is a service focused on simplifying
end-of-life planning, offering tools for creating legally binding wills. They aim to make the process of death planning approachable, encouraging individuals to personalise their legacy while ensuring their final wishes are clearly communicated and legally recognised.

I was tasked with creating a unique and engaging folder design for their new customer starter pack, within a completion timeframe of two days. The goal was to also design a ‘fun’ section for their pack that sits alongside legal documents and encourages personalisation, sparks conversations, and enhances the overall experience, making the Octopus Legacy experience more memorable and shareable.

With a focus on user interaction and problem-solving, I developed a mix of high quality designs, aiming to transform a typically cold process into a warm, approachable one.

This project was extremely successful, so much so that I was offered a job as their permanent Brand Designer.
“More than just a folder; it’s a place to hold you on paper.”

My concept was inspired by the popular art of scrapbooking and the personal touch of journaling. The interactive aspect of the pack redefines the way you approach planning your death. Far from a mundane chore, it’s an invitation to create your story, meticulously curating every detail, the way you want it.
I presented my pack design interactively with detailed mockups. As you pan through the presentation, you are taken through the folder in an engaging way. Options were given to most designs to allow for varying budget allowances, or ease of processes that were suggested such as print finishes and binding techniques.
Above - Inside, when the pack is fully open.

Below Left - These cards cover the essential information in a more interactive way. As this information is important to be accurate and completed by the correct person, customers have a place to sign it off.

Below Right - On the right side of the pack, 2 cost effective paper pouches hold private letters and notes. Again, these can be saved to a device with the help of a simple Octopus Legacy app. Tabs at the top of the contents enable these messages to be kept private and only viewed by the intended recipient. When saving digital versions, these can be protected by a password per person.
